The Communication Unit is a Support Unit of the DHRC responsible for Documentation, Dissemination and Advocacy aimed at facilitating the Centre achieve its main objective of improving the health status of the general public with emphasis on deprived communities.

Functions:
Facilitates Internal Communications
The Communication Office liaises with Projects/Unit Heads and other staff of the Centre to create an appropriate platform for knowledge sharing in scientific discourse through Technical Meetings and other appropriate fora. Similarly, the Unit facilitates technical meetings of external visitors and collaborators to the Centre to deepen existing partnerships.
Media Outreach
The office serves as a liaison with the media and journalists to give visibility to the Centre by arranging media interviews, obtaining press coverage for events and for announcing important news within the Centre.
Video Services
The Communications Office provides shooting, editing, and related services for projects with clearly defined objectives. In addition, the office maintains a media lab that contains video documentation of major Centre activities such as project activities, end of year staff awards and parties, anniversary activities and important visits to the Centre among others. These documentations are accessible by staff on request
Publications
The Unit collaborates closely with Projects/Units on Centre to compile and print the Centre’s Annual Reports and other promotional materials for the Centre and assists units/projects apply editorial and design guidelines to their publications.
Web Services
The Office provides content in the form of news write-ups and staff publications for the Centre’s website on a regular basis.
Photography
A photography service for projects activities remains a key function of the Communications Unit. The Unit therefore maintains a photo archive of Centre activities that is accessible, on request, by projects and interested staff.
